Oliver Tree, who was the singer who died in a plane crash
The American singer and performer Oliver Tree died today, Sunday 14 June, in a tragic plane crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. According to what was reported by CNN Brasil and confirmed by several international newspapers, the artist was on board one of the two helicopters that collided in flight in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area, in the western part of the city. All six people involved lost their lives in the accident. Brazilian authorities have opened an investigation to ascertain the causes of the collision.
Oliver Tree, born Oliver Tree Nickell in 1993 in California, had become one of the most recognizable characters on the international music scene thanks to his eccentric style, surreal video clips and an artistic proposal capable of mixing pop, alternative rock, electronic and hip hop. Songs like “Life Goes On”, “Miss You”, “Hurt” and “Cash Machine” had guaranteed him hundreds of millions of plays on digital platforms and widespread popularity on social networks.
In addition to his music, Tree was known for his provocative character, characterized by his unmistakable bowl haircut, oversized clothes and an ironic streak that often led to performance art and satire of contemporary pop culture. Over the years he had built a global fan base, becoming one of the most followed alternative artists of his generation.
The news of his death immediately sparked reactions and messages of condolence from fans around the world. The artist was in South America as part of an international tour and was due to return to Europe in the coming months. Among the events awaited by Italian fans there were also two concerts scheduled in Italy during 2026, on 7 July in Rome at Eur Social Park and on 8 July at the Circolo Magnolia in Milan, events which had already attracted great interest among fans of his music.
