Eric Clapton: "An album made with Phil Collins has disappeared"

They throw a vinyl at him: Eric Clapton leaves the stage

The concert had practically reached the end: Eric Clapton had just finished playing “Cocaine” and was saying goodbye to the audience before leaving the stage and then returning for the ritual encore with “Before you accuse me”. While Slowhand was enjoying the ovation at the Movistar Arena in Madrid, someone from the audience thought it best to throw him a vinyl, hoping perhaps to get it autographed. It’s a shame that the object, thrown towards the stage with too much force, hit the 81-year-old musician right in the center of the chest. Eric Clapton left the stage and never left the backstage, thus ending the concert early. Here is the video:

The episode happened last Thursday evening, when Clapton’s tour stopped in the Spanish capital. The accident left the singer-songwriter’s fans stunned: «Sad images today at Eric Clapton’s concert in Madrid. Someone threw something at him and the concert ended without an encore”, “What kind of idiot was he?”, “I feel deeply embarrassed as a Madrilenian and a big Clapton fan”, are just some of the many comments shared on social media by the musician’s fans.
