Robbie Williams wrote a letter to Yungblud

Yungblud teams up with the Smashing Pumpkins

Yungblud teams up with Smashing Pumpkins for a revisit of “Zombie”song included in his latest album, “Idols” (read the review here), published in June last year. “Zombie” is nominated for best rock song ai Grammy Awards 2026as well as “Idols” is nominated for best rock album.

The 28-year-old British musician told the story of collaborating with the band of
Billy Corgan
in an interview with Loudwire. “When I was working on “Zombie,” I was really inspired by “Siamese Dream.” It was the sadness and the melancholy emotion mixed with the aggression of Billy’s fucking guitars… Billy, as a songwriter, was really there in my inspiration when making this album. When “Zombie” came along, I knew I wanted to make a new version of it.”

Dominic Harrison
this is the real name of
Yungblud
explained that the original version of
“Zombie”
was heavier and that he changed it because he feared it might sound too similar to the Pumpkins. While he was happy with the album version, he always imagined another version. “I called Billy and said, ‘Billy, please help me scratch this itch. I want this record to dig deeper.’ There still has to be an almost Jekyll and Hyde element, there has to be a version that’s full of light, full of life and optimism, but then there has to be this dark, pessimistic, a little bitter, a little aggressive version.”

This is not the first collaboration of
Yungblud
with a well-known rock band. In September he published
“My Only Angel”
with them
Aerosmith
a song that debuted at number one on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart and was included in
“One More Time”
(
