“When Perry attacked Dave in Boston, it was traumatic”

During an interview with the YouTube channel ‘Appetite for Distortion’ Dan Clearythe guitar and bass technician of Jane’s Addictionhe returned to talk about the fight on stage between Perry Farrell And Dave Navarro during the band’s concert at Leader Bank Pavillion in Boston held on September 13, 2024 which has – at least for now – closed the history of the band.

Asked if Cleary was traumatic for him, the engineer replied with great sincerity: “I’m glad you asked me because no one has asked me yet if it was traumatic, but the answer is yes. I was with that band for 17 years. That was more my family than my family in real life. I toured the world with those guys. We’ve been through everything. I love them. They gave me a life that I couldn’t have had otherwise.”

Cleary then went on to say how the team was a close-knit group and expressed the shock he felt when the altercation occurred. “We had the best team. The number one team in the business. There were no big egos. Every day everyone was rowing in the same direction. We had each other’s backs. We fought for each other. So when it happened, when Perry attacked Dave on stage in Boston, it was traumatic. I tell people it was like losing someone in a car accident, because it was so sudden and unexpected. None of us still know exactly what happened.”

Dan Cleary he also told his reaction to the fight and the moment he intervened. “As soon as that happened, as soon as that kind of punch and that fight happened, in my mind, I knew it was over. It was done. I know a lot of the fans thought, ‘It’s all going to work out. They’re grown men. These things happen.’ But I thought, ‘No, this is… let’s go home and we’re not going to do this again.’

Just a few days ago a flame of hope was lit to see the group together again thanks to a message via social media which smells of civilization, if not exactly conciliation between the members of the Jane’s Addiction And Perry Farrell.

“We would like to clarify the events surrounding the cancellation of the tour after the Boston show in September 2024. After that concert, without informing Perry, we unilaterally decided that it was best not to continue the tour and made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health, which we regret. We are here today to announce that we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s Addiction remains the work that the four of us created together. We now look to the future as we embark on paths musical and creative individuals. Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts. We are proud of the music we have created together. You, the fans, are our lifeblood and we will always be grateful.”
