It will be released on March 6th “The Temple Of The King: 1975-1976”the most complete collection of the early phase of the career of Rainbow. It is the first of a series of anthological box sets that trace the guitarist’s career Ritchie Blackmore. The nine-CD set, remastered by Andy Pearce and Matt Wortham, comes in deluxe seven-inch packaging with a 24-page booklet featuring memorabilia, photos and music critic’s liner notes Rich Davenport.

The box set spans the first two years of Rainbow and includes the band’s debut album, “Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow”Then “Rising” and the German concerts collected in the double live album “On Stage”. The final two discs contain rare recordings, many of which are featured on CD for the first time, including band rehearsals, single edits and rough mixes.

THE Rainbow were initially formed as a solo project by Ritchie Blackmore in early 1975, after a tour with i Deep Purple the previous year. On that tour, they were supported by the American band The Elf. The singer of Elf, Ronnie James Diogreatly impressed Blackmore who asked him to sing a cover of “Black Sheep Of The Family”. The recording sessions went so well that an album began to take shape, with Blackmore and Dio collaborating on original songs. Blackmore grew a lot in this project and started Rainbow. The album that emerged from it, “Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow”was recorded between February and March 1975 at Musicland Studios in Munich, Germany.

“Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow” in Great Britain it entered the Top 15 and the Top 30 in the United States, it was such a positive experience that, in the summer of 1975, Blackmore left the Deep Purple to dedicate yourself completely to Rainbow.

With the bass player Jimmy Bainthe keyboard player Tony Carey and the former drummer of Jeff Beck Group Cozy Powelli Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow they embarked on their first tour. In 1976, the band’s name was shortened to Rainbow and a second album, “Rising”was recorded in February of the same year, again at Musicland. “Rising” contains only six tracks, including two compositions on the B-side, one of which, “Stargazer”is considered a classic of Rainbow and a cornerstone of hard rock. It was the perfect fusion of Ritchie’s guitar magic and Ronnie’s powerful voice.

Taking the album on tour in 1976, the band added “Mistreated” of the Deep Purple to the setlist and the duration of the songs was lengthened to include improvised sections. The band recorded concerts in Germany and Japan, which were later edited and collected in the live album “On Stage”released in the summer of 1977. Three of the German concerts, those in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Nuremberg, are here released together for the first time outside Japan.
