Vinicio Capossela and the Rolling Thunder Revue
An unprecedented show arrives in Italy to celebrate fifty years of “Desire”, Bob Dylan’s album, and one of the most famous tours in the history of rock: the Rolling Thunder Revue. It is not a simple concert, but a real caravan that moves from city to city following the spirit of Dylan’s original.
The first stage is set for May 15th at the President Theater in Piacenza, as part of the “From Mississippi to the Po” festival. On May 16th the caravan will move to Albenga, to the Ambra Theater, for the “Su La Testa” festival.
The protagonists who wrote the pages of that story will take to the stage. Rob Stoner, bassist and musical director of Rolling Thunder and co-author of the famous “American Pie”, will lead the band together with violinist Scarlet Rivera.
Alongside them will be Rafael Gayol, drummer for Leonard Cohen and Robbie Robertson, and Brian Mitchell, pianist and accordionist who played with Dylan as well as with Levon Helm and Loretta Lynn. The parterre is completed with international talents of the caliber of James Maddock, David Ford, Michele Stodart, Chris Murphy, Chris Buhalis and Graham Weber. The ensemble will play the entire album, starting from “Hurricane”, paying homage to Dylan in the month of his 85th birthday.
Special guest of the Italian dates will be Vinicio Capossela.
Capossela will sing Dylan and present his new project dedicated to Dylan Thomas; Scarlet Rivera has already been the protagonist of her Sponz Fest last August and involved in the recordings of her next album.
The direction and vision of this project are by Andrea Parodi, singer-songwriter and cultural operator, collaborator of the historic Buscadero magazine and creator of festivals dedicated to great American music.
After the Italian dates, the caravan will continue in Spain, Switzerland, England and Holland with different lineups, but with the stable nucleus formed by Stoner and Rivera.
