Vasco Rossi: a new version of “What happens in the city” is released
It is a cult in Vasco Rossi’s discography, arriving in 1985 between the great success of “Bollicine” and “C’è chi dice no” in 1987: it contains some of the most loved songs ever in the rocker Zocca’s repertoire, from “Toffee” to “T’immagini”, passing through “Ti taglio la gola”. Now “What happens in the city”, Komandante’s iconic album inspired in part by his prison experience (in 1984 during a search in a farmhouse in Casalecchio, where he lived with his band, he handed over 26 grams of cocaine to the police and spent 22 days in prison on charges of possession of cocaine and non-profit dealing), returns to the shops in a special re-edition designed to celebrate its fortieth anniversary. The reissue is part of the “40th RPlay Edition” series and comes after those of “Vado al massimo”, “Bollicine” and “Va bene, va bene cos”: it will be released on 5 December and will contain the album remastered from the original tapes, an unreleased song (i.e. the new version of one of the nine songs originally included on the album), a new book-interview edited by Gianni Poglio with over 100 pages of exclusive and unpublished photos from the time and a card to access the contents exclusive.
The mixes, from the original multi-track tapes, were carried out by Maurizio Biancani, already co-producer and sound engineer of the album.
“It was a period of inner evolution and also of mental confusion. And music, once again, proved to be decisive in saving my life; writing, playing and recording the songs put my priorities back in order, pushed me forcefully to find myself again”, recalls Vasco about the genesis of the album.
