United States: Listening to metal music while driving is dangerous
Is it dangerous to listen to metal music while driving a car? According to a new study conducted by Extreme Terrain it would seem that this is indeed the case. The survey involved a thousand interviewees in the United States to establish how their music listening habits can influence their behavior and driving experience and the aggressiveness of the music seems to trigger some bad habits.
Among all musical genres, motorists who listen to metal are the first among those who honk at other drivers, run red lights, are involved in a serious traffic accident and drive while intoxicated.
Curiously, the angriest motorists driving are not metalheads but those who listen to R&B and soul music and, leaving the musical field, the survey indicated that among the angriest drivers of a four-wheeler are people who listen to the podcast Joe Rogan Experience.
The Extreme Terrain study revealed that rock is the most popular genre to listen to in the car, followed by alternative/indie. Three out of ten respondents explained that listening to music at full volume makes them drive more recklessly.
Passenger behaviors were also examined. The most annoying behavior adopted by passengers is changing songs or radio stations without asking, as well as speaking loudly on the phone.
