Tiromancino: “The description of a moment” turns 25

“It looks like a moment but a lifetime has passed.” So Federico Zampaglione comments, in a meeting with the media, the milestone of the quarter of a century of “The description of a moment”album that twenty -five years ago consecrated the success of the Tiromancino. “It is a record that had a particular process – he says – we were a period closed in the studio, almost in exile, in which we lived only according to music. We had realized that we had something particular in our hands”.

An album, with the musical production of Riccardo Sinigallia, who arrived after four more underground works, almost niche and with Anglo -Saxon influenceswho have not been completely understood and who brought the group to a crossroads: find a winning solution with songable songs or find a “real job”. “‘The description of a moment’ was a middle ground between pop and alternative and for this he put a year to start selling and going on the radio. The decisive push gave it ‘two destinies’, thanks to the film by Özpetek, and the video of ‘The description of a moment’ with Paola Cortellesi and Valerio Mastandrea”, The artist continues.

And, speaking of cinema, Zampaglione defines himself as a “cinephile who grew up with the films of Dario Argento and Sergio Leone”, who experienced the world of sets with video clips until, in 2010, he decided to retire from the music scene to devote himself only to the cinema. But what is told today is another story, made up of music and an anniversary that the band celebrates with the republishing of the disc, available from June 20, in three formats: 180 gram vinyl LP, CD Digipack and a special limited edition set numbered with LP, CD and plexiglass reproduction of the cover sign. The celebrations will then continue with a dedicated tour, “the description of a trip”, which collects the most significant songs made in these twenty -five years.

As a small preview for those present, the Tiromancino frontman performed acoustic, guitar and voice, three songs. “’Strade’ was a particular piece, when we brought it to Sanremo we thought it was little Sanremo. But we arrived second and this thing displaced us and made us understand that you have to do things in which you believe, ”he says before singing it. Second piece in the lineup “The description of a moment”, which was born as a funk piece, then declined in country modeand finally, imbued with South American melodies in the refrain with his iconic “Ai Ai Ai”. And here, to conclude, also “two destinies”. From 2022 the Tiromancino do not release new works, but they announce that there is a new album, it remains to be defined as the release date.
