“Time does not heal the wound of Chester’s death”
The bassist of Linkin Park, Dave Farrellin an interview with Evropa2 spoke of the band’s path after the tragedy of the suicide of their singer Chester Benningon in July 2017.
Farrell explained: “In the history of the band, the most tragic thing was certainly the loss of Chester. There is nothing that approaches minimal to what we spent. To me, Brad, Mike and Joe from that moment on, it took years before we feel very comfortable to return to a room, sit together and tell us: ‘We want to try to start again?’ Or do we still want to be part of the band?
The bass player told that he took the time to elaborate Bennington’s loss. “My brain turned out and simply said: ‘I’m going to be with my family’. I will let you know when I will see you, but for now it is as if a bomb had exploded and I need to recover and understand how to deal with the situation. It is as if the cliché of the time heals all the wounds. It does not heal the wound, but it gives you the opportunity to look at things from a different perspective and see what you can do. Stay with you, but you can find a way to go on one step at a time. “
