Thruppi: an album in which the genres dissolve

“Thruppi” It is a strange, corrosive and pointed album, but at times also melodic. It is intimate, but also of an alternative community, there is an ego and also of the us. It is a plug inside a largely made of rubber music scene. Talks about time, bodies, wounds and the possibility of telling the truth even when it hurts. It tells a tangible reality, pure in its simplicity. For this reason, perhaps, in the album cover all the components are photographed in the back: He is closing his eyes, letting the pre -established references and appearances go, who is really seen.

“Thruppi” is primarily a sort of supergroup that cancels the barriers of the time, composed of the singer -songwriter Giovanni Truppi and the Thru Collected collective. They belong to two different generations, but have a lot in common. “I have always been unpleasant to me – he says with a smile tricks – I think I wore many clothes in all these years. Listening to the Thru I heard the same vision: I can’t say what genre they do”. “These pieces are not flawless also because there has not been a real collective work, there was a job by John with individuals, so universes were created in itself Which then found a place in a wider design, “explain the Thobs (in connection there are healthy, Lucky Polo and Ben Romano). The meeting between tricks and boys was born almost by chance: Giovanni discovered the collective thanks to the suggestion of a friendhe immediately fascinated and invited them to participate in the podcast that accompanied his previous album “Infinite possibilities for finished beings”.

On that occasion he realized that the boys had also grown up with his songs. From that first exchange New meetings were born, until the realization, between Naples and Rome, of these pieces that seem entrepreneurible. Seven songs born from a shared creative process who tell a meeting, once, two generations close in the way of seeing reality. Combining with cantum cantiuto, spoken word and rap, the disc intertwines delicate melodies, stratified choirs and synth rugs with indie rock and electronic sounds crossing noise, punk, distorted and dissonant moments. “We all brought elements in the creative process, texts and music: everything has been mixed – says tricks – There have been no preventive agreements of the type ‘let’s talk about this’, everything was natural. And there have been no will to make complex songs, far from it. Both I and I love a certain type of popular song, capable of speaking to everyone “. The result is a contemporary and hybrid work where the genres contaminate and dissolve each other.

To do as a background there seems to be Naples, mentioned in the song “Naples city of death”. “There are more Naples – the Thru Collected say – some of us come from different neighborhoods and areas, and this offers a particular vision. We are talking about neighboring, but different contexts”. The process with which the album was born is called “playful”, but in reality the songs are far from “fun”: “perfect teeth”, one of the most successful pieces, is a direct attack on the bourgeoisie. “There is a dark, but romantic vision. Yes, there are traumas, but we are talking about songs with which we all exorcise reality,” say the Thru Collected. “I believe there is a dark approach, it’s true – concludes Truppi – But Vitale. This is an album full of life“.
