The upcoming albums: Noyz’s hell and Tommaso’s paradise

Rome burns like hell or is illuminated like Paradise: on the one hand the return of the eighth king of the Capital, Noyz Narcos, with a record that promises to be violent and lethal, on the other the comeback of a singer-songwriter, still Roman, who has contributed to dragging indie into the mainstream like few others, marking a historical period, Tommaso Paradiso. It’s not over: there’s also space for the record releases of Gigi D’Alessio and Jessie J. Below are Rockol’s recommendations on the records coming out on Friday 28 November.

Tommaso Paradiso – “Casa Paradiso”

The former frontman of Thegiornalisti is back on track two years after “Sensazione stupenda”. He does it with his third solo album, “Casa Paradiso”. Anticipated by the singles “Lasciamene un po'” and “Forse”, the album was presented by the Roman singer-songwriter with a trailer shared on his official social channels, with the narrating voice of Fabio Caressa and Beppe Bergomi, because we return home “even from Berlin”. “Casa Paradiso” will contain “songs that you want to sing with people you love, with a friend, loudly, inside a car” and which talk about “stories of victories and defeats, of those who flee and those who stay”.

Noyz Narcos – “Funny Games”

Noyz Narcos reopens the curtain on his damned world, for a return that promises to leave its mark, announcing the features and tracklist of “Funny Games”, the new album out on November 28th. Achille Lauro, Conway The Machine, Gast, Guè, Jake La Furia, Kid Yugi, Madame, Nerissima Serpe, Papa V and Shiva: the project’s guests enter like characters from a walking nightmare, each bringing their own world into a compact, coherent record crossed by constant tension. “Funny Games” is not a comeback, it’s a warning, a dark album that isn’t looking for spectators: it’s looking for targets. The title is a tribute to Michael Haneke’s cult film, a reference that finds fertile ground in the world of one of the rappers who contributed to making the history of the genre, where reality is never sugarcoated, but is observed closely, without filters. At the productions there is Sine with whom it all began.

Gigi D’Alessio – “Nuje”

The album, artistically produced by Gigi himself together with Adriano Pennino, Max D’Ambra and Kekko D’Alessio, includes thirteen songs. A work full of nuances, as demonstrated by the singles already released that will be part of the album, “Rosa e tears”, “Cattiviria e gelosia”, “Un selfie con la vita” and above all “Diamanti e oro”, which restore the expressive versatility of an artist capable of crossing genres and atmospheres. “Diamonds and gold” sees the participation of Khaled and Jovanotti. A sound journey that crosses Naples, the Maghreb and contemporary Italy, where Neapolitan, Arabic, Spanish and Italian blend into a single story. The song was born from a love story, but expands to become a reflection on our time.

Jessie J – “Don’t tease me with a good time”

What happened to Jessie J? Among the great pop protagonists of the 2010s, Jessica Ellen Cornish, this is the real name of the British singer-songwriter born in 1988, had lost every trace of herself on record for seven, very long years. In 2021 the singer revealed that she suffers from Ménière’s disease, a hearing disorder, and that she had had a miscarriage. In an interview in 2022 he revealed that he had recorded a new album, only to later trash it completely. And then the change of entourage and record label, a personal and artistic crisis, the diagnosis of breast cancer (and the operation). Now with “Don’t tease me with a good time” Jessie J aims to return to being talked about only for the music. The album will contain sixteen songs that tell the story of the star’s rebirth.
