The Smile release new single “Bodies Laughing”
The Smile released their new single today “Bodies Laughing”, taken from the new album “Cutouts”, out Friday 4 October via XL Recordings.
“Bodies Laughing” follows recent tracks “Foreign Spies,” “Zero Sum,” “Don’t Get Me Started” and “The Slip,” the latter two of which were released in limited edition 12-inch formats in record stores from all over the world.
On October 4th, to coincide with the album’s release, the band will release a new Weirdcore-directed video for Instant Psalm. Meanwhile, the visual video of the single is available
For the release of the English band’s new work, two “listening parties” have been organized in Italy and will take place Thursday 3 October a Rome – 7.00 pm – Discoteca Laziale and Milan – 9.00 pm – Il Cinemino, with limited places.In addition to previewing the album, it will already be possible to purchase it. Gadgets are provided.
The Smile – Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner – had already presented some songs from “Cutouts” during the UK tour in March. (Read here)
“Cutouts” contains 10 new songs and is produced by Sam Petts-Davies. It is the band’s third studio album following “Wall of Eyes,” released in January, and the trio’s 2022 debut album “A Light For Attracting Attention.” The new album was recorded in Oxford and Abbey Road Studios around the same time as “Wall of Eyes”. The album features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra and the album’s artwork was painted during the recording process by Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke.
Outside of The Smile, Thom Yorke released the original soundtrack for the film by Daniele Luchetti “Confidence” and will soon begin a solo tour of New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Japan, Johnny Greenwood debuted a new work, “X Years of Reverb,” at the 268-year-old Octagon Chapel in Norwich, and is writing the score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film, “The Battle of Baktan Cross.” Tom Skinner he released “Voices of Bishara Live at “mu”” and is touring the jazz circuit performing his own music as a solo artist.
