Izi’s return passes through Shablo
The new single “Hope”, produced by Shablo, featuring Izi and Joshuais the first piece of what could be a much broader and more structured collaboration, aimed at bringing one of the most loved and strongest artists of the Italian urban and rap scene back onto the scene, at the levels he deserves. Izi’s return could pass through Shablo, with whom he had already crossed paths several years ago. Suffice it to say that five of the thirteen tracks of “Pizzicato”, released in 2017one of the most significant albums by the Genoese rapper, were produced by the Buenos Aires-born producer, today one of the most important figures in the current Italian music industry. There is his touch, in addition to that of Mace, also behind Izi’s most famous song: “Chic”, a gem released in 2016. Shablo now brings Izi on board his new effort, the single will be released on October 4th, and who knows if this is the beginning of a new relationship aimed at making the rapper re-emerge discographically, stopped at “Riot”, his latest album released in 2020.
Be careful, Izi hasn’t stood still in recent years: he has collected a sea of interesting feats, supporting friends, Ligurian rappers and more, as well as high quality projects, giving away magical verses like those present in “Maya”, Mace’s latest project. But one of his albums has been missing for a long time. On several occasions, via social media, he explained that he had entered into short circuits with the recording world several times, that he did not share its methods, expectations and visions, but that he continued to write song after song, but that, due to these problems, he did not know when and whether they could have gotten out or not. In 2023 he also took to the Ariston stage to sing, together with Madame, “Via del Campo” by Fabrizio De Andréone of his “fathers” as he recalled in the documentary “The new Genoese school”, on Prime Video just last year.
The new wings, as if they were those of one phoenixthe mythological animal symbol of his first album of 2016, will Shablo reopen them for him? Many hope so. On several occasions they were immortalized in the studio together. Shablo, as well as being a successful manager, is first and foremost one of the creators of the sound that we have all come to know and love, that of Italian urban music, which he contributed to shaping as a producer and talent scout for several artists (Sfera Ebbasta, Rkomi, Gaia and many others): after a long wait he returned to his most natural role, that of an artist and musician. He does it with a song ready to amaze, “Hope” precisely, in the company of two luminous talents: Izi and Joshua. Finally two interesting names, outside the usual circuits. Joshua, a very talented emerging artist straddling hip hop and r&b, it is one of Shablo’s latest discoverieswith whom he has already released the single “Cold”. The song “Hope”, with a contemporary, yet soulful and melancholic atmosphere, shows a perhaps less well-known side of artistic personality of Shablo, who has always been a great lover of refined and poignant r&b. “Hope”, “hope”: the same one you feel by closing your eyes and dreaming of Izi’s return.
