The Smashing Pumpkins release their theme for “The Hunger Games”

“Black Stars” was intended for a solo album by Billy Corganbut eventually the song was recovered for the film. The election was made jointly with Butch Vig (“Gish”), the music producer with whom the group has collaborated for the first time since their iconic album “Siamese Dream” in 1993. At the moment, The Smashing Pumpkins have not clarified whether this collaboration will continue on their next album.

“Black Stars” will be exclusive to “The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping (The Album)”which brings together 29 different artists with original songs for the soundtrack and will be released a week before the film’s theatrical release, set for November 20. Recording took place in the studios Chaplin from Los Angeles, with additional sessions in Chicago.

This song, arising from the vocalist’s solo creative work, has ended up becoming the long-awaited return of the band formed by Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin. Additionally, Corgan has expressed his excitement at participating in the soundtrack of this major film production and having the opportunity to contribute to a larger creative story.
