The Rosa Camuna of the Lombardy Region goes to Mahmood and Omar Pedrini
Mahmood and Omar Pedrini will be awarded the 2024 Rosa Camuna Prize for music. Next Wednesday 29 May, on the occasion of the “Lombardy Festival”, the 56-year-old artist from Brescia and the 31-year-old from Milan will be awarded the highest honor established by the Lombardy Region.
The awards – awarded to individuals, businesses, bodies, associations, foundations and entities resident, based or operating in Lombardy, who thanks to their commitment, industriousness, creativity and ingenuity have contributed to the economic, social, cultural and sporting development of Lombardy – will be awarded to the former leader of the Timoria on the initiative of the Regional Council and under the heading of “Money” on the recommendation of President Fontana. As reported by the local edition of “Corriere della Sera”, the reasons for awarding the award to Omar Pedrini read: “His artistic and musical productions have made him an undisputed protagonist of the Italian rock scene from the 90s to today. Lombardy , the land to which he deeply feels he belongs, is a point of strength and reference in all his artistic production”.
The recognition is instead attributed to Mahmood for “his albums which have sold millions of copies and countless artistic awards. He does not fail to support projects in favor of those in difficulty”.
