The Rolling Stones cancel 2026 tour: “Keith can’t make it”
The Rolling Stones cancel the tour they were about to announce for 2026 in stadiums in the UK and Europe, Including Italy. The band was due to perform at the Olympic Stadium in Romeon a date that had not yet been communicated and which at this point never will be. The reason for the cancellation has to do with the conditions of Keith Richardsthe 81-year-old guitarist of the legendary rock band: Richards has in fact failed to respect the “exhausting” roadmap. Pushing Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood to communicate to the tour organizers theinability of the band to return on the road.
The news was anticipated by the Sun, which citing an anonymous source close to the band reported: “The Rolling Stones had all the big promoters offering them lots of ideas and dates for next summer. But when they sat down to seriously discuss the tour, Keith said that he didn’t think he could commit and that he wasn’t thrilled of a major stadium tour for over four months“. The indiscretion was later confirmed to New Musical Express byentourage of the band.
The Rolling Stones were expected in Europe already this year. In Rome the date selected was that of May 29th. But when everything seemed ready for the announcement, Jagger and company decided to keep the tour project on hold due to (alleged) difficulties related to the availability of venues, travel and other already scheduled commitments.
The news of the cancellation of the 2026 tour also makes things grow a little worry in the fans of the band of “(I can’t get no) Satisfaction”: “Will the band ever return to a stage?”, they wonder. A more than legitimate question, considering Keith Richards will blow out 82 candles on the cake the day after tomorrow and that next year Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood will turn 83 and 79 respectively.
