The Red Hot Chili Peppers dissociate themselves from the Netflix documentary

In recent days we gave you an account of the next releasescheduled for March 20, on Netflix of the documentary relating to the early years of Red Hot Chili Peppersthose in which the guitarist was present Hillel Slovak passed away in June 1988, entitled “The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers”. Now it is time to report that the members of the Californian band have distanced themselves from this documentary, clarifying that they were not involved in any way in its creation.

On their Instagram channel the group posted the following statement: “About a year ago, we were asked to be interviewed for a documentary about Hillel Slovak. He was a founding member of the group, a great guitarist and a friend. We agreed to be interviewed out of love and respect for Hillel and his memory. However, this documentary is now being advertised as a documentary about the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which it is not. We had nothing to do with it creatively. We have yet to make a documentary about the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The central subject of this Netflix special is Hillel Slovak and we hope it sparks interest in him and his work.”
