A king on the path of sunset: the unpublished of the last Elvis

The new film about Elvis with never-before-seen footage

Not just Austin Butler. The director Baz Luhrmann goes beyond the biopic made in 2022 and directs a new concert film about Elvis Presley: it’s called “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” and will hit theaters in 2026.

Premiering at the Toronto Film Festival, the film combines never-before-seen footage of King’s Las Vegas residence in the 1960s and ’70s, as well as discarded scenes from the documentaries “Elvis: That’s the Way It Is” and “Elvis on Tour.” During the development of his “Elvis” in 2022, Luhrmann found himself in trouble 68 boxes of film which inspired this new project.

“From the first day my editor, Jonathan Redmond, and I came across this rare and previously unreleased footage of Elvis nearly 8 years ago, our mission has been to make sure that Elvis finally realized his dream to tour around the world,” the director told Variety. “We’ve created an experience that’s not just a documentary and it’s not just a concert film: it’s ‘EPiC.’ I can’t wait to TCB (Elvis’ motto: Taking Care of Business) and take this show on the road.”
