The Foo Fighters host Hawkins’ son on stage

Last night (June 20th) i Foo Fighters welcomed on stage at the London Stadium Shane the late drummer’s seventeen-year-old son Taylor Hawkinsfor a rare performance of “I’ll Stick Around” from his self-titled 1995 debut album.

“Thank you for waiting three hours to come play drums with us,” frontman Dave Grohl said to the younger Hawkins before the performance, which was the second-to-last of the 27-song set.

Shane previously performed with the Foos at the September 2022 tribute concerts for his father, who died suddenly in Colombia in March 2022. His place in the band was filled by Josh Freese.

Foo Fighters are in the midst of a European tour that will run until their July 7 appearance at the Belgian Rock Werchter festival and will play the London Stadium again tomorrow night. The North American leg of the itinerary begins July 17 at Citi Field in New York.

The group has added a yet unreleased song to its live repertoire, “Unconditional“, which has reportedly been around in some form for many years. It is unknown whether a studio version will be made available in the future.
