The Black Crowes remake Led Zeppelin and announce something new

Committed to promotion of their new album, “Happiness bastards” (read our review here), their first album in 15 years, the Black Crowes were guests of the Howard Stern showduring which they have announced another news.

During his participation on the “Howard Stern Show”, the band of brothers Chris and Rich Robinson confirmed the release for next year, on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary, of a new box set version of the 2000 live album “Live at the Greek: Excess All Areas” recorded with Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page. The album was originally released at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles during two concerts in October 1999. As reported by Loudersound, the reissue will include material left out of the original release.

“Jimmy is always amazing,” Chris Robinson told Stern: “I mean, he's Jimmy Page, right? It was a real blessing and a real honor to be able to play with him, and our friendship has continued all these years. It's been almost 24 years since we made that record.” He was echoed by Howard Stern, who announced: “The Black Crowes are going to re-release that album and include their songs played with Jimmy Page“. Robinson then confirmed: “Yes, we will release a box set next year. It will be the 25th anniversary of that record, which has been released a couple of times already, but without any of the Black Crows songs we did with it.”

As reported, the next release will presumably also include the versions of “In the light” and “Misty Mountain Hop” by Led Zeppelinrecorded at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh in 2000, which originally appeared as bonus tracks on the Japanese version of the album, as well as “Bring it on home“, recorded during the same show, appeared with the other two on a Record Store Day single in 2017. Other songs from the setlist from the live at the Jones Beach Theater that were not officially released are versions of “I can't be satisfied“by Muddy Waters and “Hots on for nowhere” by Led Zeppelin, as well as “She talks to angels” by the Black Crowes.

During the group's participation in the “Howard Stern Show”, as well as remembering in detail an evening with David Bowie during a surprise birthday party for U2 frontman Bonothe Robinson brothers' formation also played a cover of Led Zeppelin's “Hey hey, what can I do”.as well as his 1992 “Remedy” and the single “Wanting and waiting” from the latest album.

On May 27th the Black Crowes will pass through Italy for a date on their 2024 tour and will play in concert at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi in Milan.
