The son of the Abruzzo musician opened the meeting with the press, Filippo Graziani that, after the album and the tour “Ivan Graziani – For friends“, is ready to return to the stage with a “traveling birthday party” to celebrate what would have been Ivan Graziani’s eightieth birthday. “In my life I have always had the urge to ask myself: ‘What must it be like to arrange a dad’s record?‘I never thought it was possible, but the opportunity arose when we discovered some unreleased material, and ‘For friends’ was born”, explains Filippo, who on the new tour “Eighty. Happy birthday Ivan“, he adds: “These are the years in which we take away some satisfaction.
When we realized that this date of eighty years since birth was approaching, since I sense that dad’s presence is extremely alive, I thought I’d do it.a traveling birthday party. My starting idea was: ‘If my father had been here, what would I have done to celebrate his 80th birthday?’ On stage we will bring songs that belong to dad’s repertoire, but also songs by other artists. And, of course, being a party, guests are expected: in the hall and on stage. Without any heaviness, this tour is driven by the joy of celebrating.” At Tenco, Filippo Graziani won in 2014 the plaque for his first studio album “Le cose belle” as “Best First Film”. “It was a gigantic emotion”, Filippo recalls now: “I remember that year David Crosby was guest: I and others, including Vittorio De Scalzi, had agreed to go and see his soundcheck. We found ourselves in a completely empty Ariston listening to him. One of the things I will carry with me forever”.
The meeting with the press on the last evening of Tenco 2024 also offers an opportunity to discover what they bring to the Ariston stage Simone Cristicchi And Bitterprotagonists of the tour “We will return again. Mystical concert for Battiato“.
“Tonight we decided to open a parenthesis to nudism”, states Amara in the press conference: “We will be dressed only in words, we will be just guitar and voice. We’ll do a song we wrote together, ‘The few things that matter‘. I will then do a song that I wrote a few years ago for Fiorella Mannoia, ‘May she be blessed‘, and then we’ll do it a tribute to our Franco Battiato”. Cristicchi adds: “Our tour of Battiato’s mystical repertoire is continuing: we thought it would only last one season, but it is having a long and lasting road. This gives us the perception that there is an audience that wants to feed on this type of music“.
The last evening of the event is also expected to feature a performance by Irene Busellithe “Tenco proposal” this year: “In addition to having brought great personalities to Ariston, Tenco aims to discover and introduce new talents“, underlines Silva, who then presents “Excuse me“, the song that Irene plays to the public this evening. “The song comes from the imagination of meeting oneself ten years earlier”, explains the Genoese musician: “Behind it there is a literary inspiration, which is a poem by Wislawa Szymborska and It’s called ‘A Teenage Girl’. Driven by this image, I thought about doing it too, discovering that I had many things pending. Which then ended up on the album ‘Io, io, io'”.
Two years after the awarding of the Tenco Prize this year Yuri Shevchuk he is finally at the Ariston to receive the recognition that due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict he was unable to collect in person before. “We are great lovers of Italy”, explains the Russian musician, founder of the rock group DDT in 1980: “Tonight we offer four songs that are inspired by great Italian artists. It will be a different set from our usual ones, we are lovers of Italian music and among the artists we grew up with there are Al Bano, Toto Cotugno, Adriano Celentano and Matia Bazar”.
The press conference ends with Caterina Casellito which the Tenco Award to the cultural operator: “I had so much fun that I don’t remember how much I did for the songwriting”, she jokes: “SI’m really grateful to fate for being able to work around music, for music. I did a lot and I had a lot of fun. And I started getting involved with music when it was possible to make mistakes, and therefore with the possibility of taking risks. As we know, the artist is shy and must have time to prove himself. Results come with time, if you work on quality There are some amazing chances to see an artist you believed in and believe achieve his career.
And this is the greatest satisfaction I have ever felt. Beyond great careers, I still feel a lot of affection for those artists in whom I believed, in whom I continue to believe, but who did not arrive where we expected. .It doesn’t mean that quality can always be rewarded. But operators working in this sector have to try”. In addition to remembering how her life changed from going from singer to producer, retracing her path after her marriage to Piero Sugar, the birth of her son Filippo, and the foundation of the Sugar label, Caterina Caselli states: “I have always started from the assumption of wanting to do for others what I would have wanted for myself. I am very grateful for what happened to me and for the respect of artists. The artist must be respected and we must enter into his world”. He concludes: “I don’t sing anymore. I returned to Saremo in 1990 and had an attack of gastritis for hours. I know the feeling of the stage and the dressing rooms at the Ariston well.”
