Taylor Swift beats Madonna with multiple albums at the number one in the UK
Taylor Swift has passed Madonna becoming the female artist with the highest number of albums at number one in the United Kingdom. The pop star of “Cruel Summer” reached this goal with his latest live album, “Lover (Live from Paris)”, which includes live recordings taken from his 2019 studio album. The publication allowed Swift to conquer for The 13th time the summit of the British ranking.
A version of “lover” live in vinyl had initially been published in a limited edition for Valentine’s Day in 2023, but this year a new double vinyl publication was made available. The album sold 47,000 copies in the United Kingdom, thus recording the best week of debut for an album in 2025.
This is the second time that Swift reaches the number one with an album not available on streaming platforms: the first had been in 2017 with “Reputation”, made available in streaming only weeks after its physical release.
Now Taylor Swift is on an equal footing with Elvis Presley, who also has 13 albums at number one in the United Kingdom. In front of her are the Rolling Stones, with 14, and Robbie Williams and Beatles, who hold the record with 15.
In December, the singer concluded her triumphant “Eras World Tour” with the last show in Vancouver on December 8th. The tour was certified as the most remunerative in 2024, overcoming the competition of Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Madonna and many others.
