Talking Heads covered by Dave Matthews Band and St. Vincent

Last weekend, at the Riverbeat Music Festival in Memphis, LA Dave Matthews Band he brought St. Vincent on stage for a performance dedicated to Talking Heads.

St. Vincent, aka Anne Clarkjoined DMB for a new performance of “Burning Down the House“, a song from Talking Heads’ 1983 album “Speaking in Tongues”. The song is a classic DMB workhorse, but according to Jam Bands they hadn’t performed it in 45 concerts. The last occasion would be the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2024.

A fan captured the cover in a video, which we propose below:

In addition to covering the Talking Heads, Clark also participated in a performance of DMB’s “Spoon”, a song from the 1998 album “Before These Crowded Streets”, reprising the vocal part sung by Alanis Morissette in the original version.

Clark and David Byrne – the Talking Heads frontman – collaborate regularly. The two first met in 2012 to co-sign the album “Love This Giant”, for a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Chemical Love” in 2023 and then for the album “Who Is the Sky?” by Byrne. They finally reunited live at the New Orleans Jazz Fest last month.
