Produced like the previous “Hackney Diamonds” (2023) by Andrew Watt, the 14 tracks of the album were recorded in less than a month at the Metropolis in London by the three band members supported by Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan. There is also traces of one of Charlie Watts’ last studio sessions. To top it all off, an impressive array of guest artists, including Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure And Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
“In the stars” is about fate and luck (“I feel a heavy hand / Intruding on my plans / It’s in the stars / It’s our destiny / It’s in the stars / Written for you and me”). Together with “Rough and Twisted“, the piece published under the name Cockroaches which will open the new album (and now officially available under the name Rolling Stones), will be released on physical media on May 15th.
Foreign Tongues captures the Rolling Stones sound you know and love – rooted in blues, country, rock and classic Stones songwriting.

Comment like this Mick Jagger:
I love doing these recording sessions in London, at the Metropolis. The weeks dedicated to the recording of “Foreign Tongues” were very intense. We had 14 great songs and we worked as fast as we could. I like that room because it’s not too big, so you can feel the passion of everyone present.
Keith Richards adds:
The “Foreign Tongues” album is a continuation of “Hackney Diamonds” and it was great to work in London again and have that London atmosphere around us. It was a month of great intensity. For me, what matters is fun. I’m lucky to be able to do this and I hope it lasts a long time.
Finally, this is the comment of Ronnie Wood, who will come to Italy for a single date on July 17th in Lucca:
The “Foreign Tongues” album is a continuation of “Hackney Diamonds” and it was great to work in London again and have that London atmosphere around us. It was a month of great intensity. For me, what matters is fun. I’m lucky to be able to do this and I hope it lasts a long time.
