Sufjan Stevens has shared the unreleased song “On This Christmas (It Only Gets Better)”, a preview of a compilation with his favorite Christmas songs.

This Friday it will see the light “Worst Christmas Ever!”a compilation of the artist’s own fifteen favorite Christmas songs, taken from the more than one hundred that Stevens recorded for the box sets “Songs For Christmas” and “Silver & Gold”published in 2006 and 2012 respectively.

As a preview, Stevens has shared the song “On This Christmas (It Only Gets Better)”, a song that turns out to be the first Christmas song the artist has recorded in fifteen years. It is a song that talks about forgiveness and the sins that we may have committed.

The idea for Sufjan Stevens’ Christmas albums began in 2001 when he recorded seven songs for his friends and family under the name “Noel. Vol. 1.” Every Christmas he made a new one, which he later began to include in his boxes. To record them he had friends such as Aaron and Bryce Dessner (The National), Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire), members of the Danielson Family, Gabriel Kahane and Cat Martino.

Obviously, the album will be released by Asthmatic Kitty Records, a record label owned by the artist, and will be for sale in various formats along with other material such as Christmas hats, postcards, pajamas or gift wrapping paper in this same link.
