Stevie Nicks Turns Her Poem Into New Single
“The Lighthouse” is the title of the new single from Stevie Nickswho announced the release of the song for tomorrow, September 27ththrough a video shared on social media.
In the clip above, where you can see the Fleetwood Mac singer’s shadow dancing, you can hear a preview of the songthe text of which is based on a poem by the musician herselfentitled “Get it back” and released in 2022 to invite fans in the United States to register to vote in that year’s elections. The artist had already hinted at that time that those lines could be those of a song, writing: “Read the words of my songI wrote it for you.”
“I want to be the lighthouse / Bring you all together”, read the end of the poem: “Bring you out in stormy weather / I wanna teach you to fight”.
Nicks’ last music release was in 2022.when her cover of Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” came out, which followed the single “Show them the way” two years earlier recorded with Dave Grohl on drums and produced by Greg Kurstin. Also in 2020, Stevie Nicks had collaborated with Miley Cyrus on “Midnight Sky (Edge of Midnight)”, which combined the former Disney starlet’s single “Midnight Sky” and “Edge of Seventeen”, a hit from the Fleetwood Mac singer’s first solo album “Bella Donna” in 1981. Nicks’ eighth and final solo studio album, however, “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault“, dates back to 2014.
