Sony Music owns the majority of Michael Jackson’s catalogue
Sony Music Group would have closed an agreement to acquire the majority share of Michael Jackson’s catalog – both editorial and recorded music: the indiscretion, launched by the American edition of Billboard, was confirmed by Variety. The amount of the transaction, not officially confirmed, would be around 600 million dollars. The participation would also cover the catalog managed by Mijac Music, a publishing company created by the late King of Pop in 1980 which also includes works by – among others – Jerry Lee Lewis, Jackie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield, Ray Charles and Percy Sledge.
