Smashing Pumpkins: here’s the single from the new album
As already announced in recent days (Read here) The Smashing Pumpkins Last Friday they published ‘Aghori Mhori Mei’the thirteenth album of their production, an album with a return to the dark and powerful sounds of the past, inspired by the sound of the band of the early 90s; where guitars, bass, drums and sharp vocals dominated the compositions of the Chicago band.
The new work had not been preceded by a single because, as Corgan explained to NME, the band would have a hard time choosing which song to start with and let other people judge the album by that one. In the end, they felt that the right way to listen to this album was in its entirety, choosing at a later stage.
Now the band’s choice has fallen on ‘Sighommi’, selected as a single and accompanied by a video
‘Aghori Mhori Mei’ It is currently only available for streaming, from November 2024 It will also be distributed in physical format.
“While writing the new album I was intrigued by the tired axiom, ‘You can’t go home again,’” Corgan observes. “Which I personally found to be true in form, but I thought, what if we gave it a try anyway? Not so much as a sentimental look back but rather as a means of moving forward; to see if, in the balance of success and failure, our early ’90s way of making music could still work.”
The new album comes out during the North American tour and a few weeks after the European one which saw them play in Italy at the Lucca Summer Festival last July 6th.
William Patrick Corgan’s Smashing Pumpkins have sold over 30 million albums worldwide and won Grammy Awards, MTV VMAs and many other awards.
