Saverio Lanza: “The goal of ‘Reunion’ is to open roads”
Saverio Lanzatogether with Cristina Donàpresented his third solo album to the press, entitled “Reunion”which will be released on September 26, about twenty years after the previous ones “Do you have a cigarette?” released in 2003 e “Native language” Published in 2007. The new album of the 55 -year -old Florentine musician consists of ten songs, two of these, “Benedictus” And “Altissimus”see the participation, respectively, of Monica Demuru And Cristina Donà.
“Reunion” It is a record in which different musical genres converge, therefore, inevitable to ask the Tuscan musician how it was born, from where the album is born. Saverio Lanza He replies like this: “As the title says,” reunion “, I tried to bring all my experiences, my souls, I clearly excluded the most extreme parts of things, were experimental or more pop, I tried to concentrate them and find things that could get along together, even in their difference. The ingredients that are most inside are certainly an approach linked to the song, therefore to a pop in the wider term, but there is also a lot of life. contemporary.
Staying on the topic then he wonders in Lanza what the spark from which the disc comes to life. The Tuscan musician replies saying: “There was a strong will to gather with myself, in the sense that I realized, in this schizophrenia that I have always lived, that is, in working for me and working for others, in very different environments, I had a moment of fear of getting lost in some way, I felt the need to find that thread, which I see clearly quite clearly, which combines the various experiences, which however was increasingly invisible, especially in the eyes of others. My will is to say, I want to regain what it belongs to me anyway, I want to gather with myself in this sense, with all the parts of me and with all the parts outside of me, which however belong to me. He started from an intimate, personal vision, a necessity that also happens in a moment of life, after so many years or in an age in which you try to pull summary or in any case to see, to look after you to understand where to go on.
Is called into question Cristina Donàthe Lombard musician has long collaborated with the Florentine musician in different forms, explaining: “The work started now many years ago with Saverio is stimulating, there are several reasons why we have not yet said goodbye. Everyone has his own research, his way of carrying out his own projects, but all these peculiarities enrich me, make me want to say why we do not try now in that direction, and the directions are many, so we do not bore. ‘Guide spirits’ (the show that Lanza and Donà bring on stage for a couple of years). He has a little summarized our musical frequentations, so it was also fun to carry them on the scene, we have been taking it for two years, we had a lot of fun. those experiences, I try to appropriate as much as possible. ” Saverio intervenes Saverio underlining: “I think that the experience of ‘guides’ also in some way is reunion, because we had to condense many of our tastes in something that was, that had a non -infinite dimension.”
Regarding the expectations he puts for the album, Saverio Lanza it is very pragmatic and realist: “From this album as by the others I did I do not wait for the standard reactions because it is not a standard disk for which I do not expect anything about the normal things that happen with the disc
On the possibility of presenting the album live, on a stage. Which ideas have been developed For a live that, just as the disc is built with choirs and musical inserts of different kinds, it will not be easy to replicate. “It is a record in which there are environmental recordings, there are orchestra improvisations, there are many things. So, in fact, it is almost impossible, at least for the means that I have available to be able to make everything live, having the choir, the orchestra would be really difficult. So you could, in small situations, bring the recordings of what happened and therefore send them on the base, in a electronic way. As when I do, for example, a concert where I send a part of the recorded choir and what has not been recorded is the central part. to retrace that same philosophy. “
TO Cristina Donà It was asked to tell what his experience was with “Altissimus”the song to which he collaborates in “Reunion”. You told the following: “I obviously started from the suggestions that Saverio sent me, or the word Altissimus, the choir and this scale of ascending plan and I sought starting from a spiritual concept as often happens in my songs to find a more atheist look, linked in this case to astrophysics and therefore to our belonging to the cosmos, to the universe I speak very often in my songs and I did it from a sort of image of very time. It is immersed in the pendulum experience and therefore a very terrestrial image, very pragmatic, very city, very urban. It must be said that I am very fascinated by a speech that has been born for a while, which however is now a little affirming through some scientists, where you try to clarify what the two dimensions, the spiritual and that of modern physics, of quantum physics have in common. Religions, of some philosophies and this fascinates me a lot.
Before reaching greetings, Saverio Lanza – even if the project is still being discussed and development – he underlines that he holds a lot and would be happy to present the new album in concert and declares. “It will be a particular live, immersive, even the visual factor is in our thoughts, but everything depends on the means we will have and on the places in which we can go.”
