Sammy Hagar says enough touring: “At my age I can’t do it”
Sammy Hagar says enough touring. After years of grueling touring, the 77-year-old rocker says he suffers from pain that prevents him from continuing to tour the world as he once did. The announcement comes in conjunction with the launch of the residency that the former Van Halen singer and guitarist will hold at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, from April 30 to May 17: “I don’t think I want to go on tour anymore. I hate saying that because I don’t want to piss off my fans. I’m going to have a one-off show, stuff like that. And it’s going to give me a good extension of my career.”
The statements are taken from an interview Hagar gave to The Las Vegas Review-Journal: “I keep telling my manager, ‘Don’t tour, let me do residencies.’ If I like it enough, I’ll make another one. And if this one is successful, I’ll do another one, and I can squeeze a few more years out of my career.”
In the coming months the musician will perform in Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma and at a festival in California, before starting his residency.
