Robben Ford to tour Italy with Darryl Jones
Robben Ford is back on tour in Italy and this time he is doing it with a real all-star band. The 72-year-old American musician will be in concert on the Peninsula between November and December, accompanied on the stages of some of the main Italian theaters by musicians who have made the history of rock. Starting with Darryl Jones, since 1993 on bass with the Rolling Stones. The all-star band was put together especially for these eight concert events in Italy and the lineup will also include tributes to Jeff Beck, to whom Robben Ford will dedicate an album that he will record with the same musicians. In addition to Darryl Jones, there will also be Larry Goldings on the keyboards and Gary Husband on the drums.
These are the tour dates:
November 26 – Phenomenon, Fontaneto D’Aragona (Novara)
November 27 – Clerici Theater, Brescia
November 28 – Geox Theatre, Padua
November 30 – Garden Theatre, Rende (CS)
December 2 – Mediterranean Theatre, Naples
December 3 – Music Park, Rome
December 4 – Showville Auditorium, Bari
December 5th – Giglio Theatre, Lucca
The musician tells:
Together with D’Alessandro and Galli we had the idea of creating an All Star Band for a tour in Italy, my favorite country, between the end of November and the beginning of December 2024. So, I started contacting high-level musicians for their availability and I got the best: Darryl Jones, from The Rolling Stones on bass, Larry Goldings on keyboards and Gary Husband on drums. They are all top-notch musicians and it is very exciting to work with these greats, so requested or in other words: so difficult to get. We will record a new album in early October in the United States. The concept was initially inspired by the music and playing of Jeff Beck, who sadly passed away, and I wanted to pay homage to him. He was a master of style, an unmistakable and super-creative guitarist. I also want the music to have a strong funky feeling, so I am taking inspiration from the music of The Meters and the great rhythm section of Stax – Booker T and The MGs. This music will be very funky, dramatic and powerful, with a lot of guitar played in a very new way for me. I can’t wait to introduce this band and this music in Italy… the best audience on the planet!
Tickets will be available from Friday 6th September at 11:00am, all the information for purchasing can be found on www.dalessandroegalli.com.
