Ringo Starr: “All I want is to be in a band”
The 84 year old Ringo Starr – who has just released his 21st solo album, “Look up” (read the review here) – interviewed by the British newspaper Sunday Times he declared that he is not interested in being considered a solo artist because his desire is to be part of a band.
In fact, it is no coincidence that the former drummer of Beatles both on tour with his All-Starr Band since the 1980s, precisely because he doesn’t want to be alone.
“The only thing I want,” he said. “Is to be in a band. I don’t want to be alone. There’s no way I can go out there and do ‘Yesterday’ alone on drums.”
The new album “Look up” is a tribute to country music, and was produced (and largely written) by T-Bone Burnett. Ringo will present the songs from the album live in two concerts scheduled at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, the country capital, on January 14th and 15th.
