Record Store Day 24, Black Friday: Legacy Recordings releases

Jimi Hendrix, Whitney Houston, Lamb of God and Rage Against the Machine are just some of the protagonists of releases from the next Record Store Dayscheduled for next year November 29 on the occasion of Black Friday. As record store shelves prepare to be filled with new releases, Legacy Recordingsthe catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, announced today 3 October the official titles it will present for the day dedicated to discounts and promotions of the event.

Available at independent record stores participating in the RSD and on the online store, at this address, this year’s proposals from Legacy for Black Friday on November 29th include live, anniversary exclusives, remixed recordings and vinyl titles for the first time. The RSD will feature a full lineup of genres, including classic hip-hop, alternative rock, soulful R&B, heavy metal, dance-pop and more.

Among the titles proposed by Legacy for the event dedicated to independent record shops, there are:

Big Brother & The Holding Company – Live at the Grande Ballroom Detroit; March 2, 1968.

For the first time, the complete concert at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit on March 2, 1968 on black vinyl.

Bobby Shmurda – Shmurda She Wrote

Bobby Shmurda shook up the music scene in 2014 with his hit single “Hot N****.” Now, 10 years later, her debut EP “Shmurda She Wrote” will be available on vinyl for the first time. Pressed on red translucent vinyl with a deluxe insert, it’s a must for any Hip Hop collector.

Dead Prez – RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta

“RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta” is the follow-up to Dead Prez’s acclaimed album “Let’s Get Free”. The Dead Prez continue to fight for Liberation, Social Justice and Knowledge! This Record Store Day 20th anniversary edition is available on red matte vinyl and includes songs with Jay-Z and Krazie Bone, as well as production from Stic Man and M1.

Jimi Hendrix – Songs For Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts

“Songs For Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts” features highlights from the historic debut concerts of Jimi Hendrix’s new Band of Gypsys (Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox, Buddy Miles) at New York’s Fillmore East on New Year’s Eve 1969 and New Year’s Day 1970. Compared to their successes at Monterey Pop and Woodstock, the legendary concerts at the Fillmore East represent a major turning point in a brilliant career full of endless possibilities. Mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Bernie Grundman, these recordings are taken from the 2019 box set that included all four legendary performances. This special edition will be released on vinyl with blue and violet swirl effects.

Rage Against the Machine – Democratic National Convention 2000

Less than a year after the release of “The Battle of Los Angeles,” Rage Against the Machine fought their battle in Los Angeles in the summer of 2000, staging an incendiary protest concert against the political party system Americans, in front of the Staples Center, while the Democratic National Convention was being held inside. This raw and uncompromising set, previously released as part of Record Store Day 2018, is now being reissued.

Celebrate Whitney Houston’s incredible legacy with the special release of “LOVE IS – Live From South Africa” ​​and more.
