Raf’s “Self Control” is revived with Fast Boy

A song that brings back the 80s, without giving up a fresher sound. After all, for some time now, as demonstrated The Weeknd and Dua Lipainternational and contemporary pop is feeding on that decade, carrying out a return to the future operation. The single born from the collaboration between the international duo Fast Boy, with over nine million listens on Spotify alone, and Raf is entitled “Wave”an artist who is a symbol of a long season of Italian music, who here lends his voice to the refrain of one of his greatest hits, “Self Control”, the song that marked the beginning of his career and which will be celebrated with a club tour and a concert event by the artist at the Unipol Arena in Milan on November 8th together with many guests and friends. The piece, written 40 years ago by Raf himself with Giancarlo Bigazzi on a musical level, with lyrics by Steve Piccolo, and arranged by Celso Vallihad an extraordinary success all over the world becoming one of the most famous Italo disco songs ever. Also thanks to the push of Laura Branigan’s coverthe single sold more than twenty million copies worldwide.

The collaboration that led to the birth of “Wave” was born from an idea by Giacomo Maiolinifounder and president as well as the beating heart of Time Records. Maiolini sensed the affinities and artistic potential, and the result was the production of a song that presents itself as a pleasant hymn to lightness in a sea of soulless summer hits. “Wave” draws inspiration from the rhythm of the classic song par excellence of the 80s that enters into the pop dance sounds of Fast Boy. In addition to an unpublished part of the text, with very simple and direct sentences sung by the duo as “Don’t you know, I lost my heart across the seven seas, Don’t you know, I tried to ride it but I’m oceans deep”there is also, of course, an interpolation of “Self Control”, a real tribute sung again by Raf. Brothers Lucas and Felix Hain, aka Fast Boy, are German DJs, producers, singers with a career full of certifications thanks to tracks like “Bad Memories” (which reached the top of the charts in several markets, as well as attracting the attention of David Guetta and Felix Jaehn who released remixes), “Forget You”, “All My Life” and “Electricity”. Raf needs no introduction and his “Self Control” marked the debut of his artistic history: it was the single that brought the singer to prominence and, throughout his career, he went on to publish fourteen albums.
