Queens of the Stone Age: Live comes out in the Paris catacombs
Last year the Queens of the Stone Age became the first band to play in the catacombs of Paris. As the frontman Josh Homme at the time explained, the group tried for 18 long years to perform in that place. In the end, the qtsa did it and during 2024 they managed to record an “acoustic session” without public at the Parisian underground Ossario.
At the beginning of this week, the band prepared the fans at the exit of a project linked to the live by sharing a short atmospheric video shot in the catacombs of the French capital – where the remains of over six million people are kept. In the movie you can see the water dripping in the poorly enlightened tunnels, followed by a close shot of a human skull. Later, Homme’s shape emerges from the darkness as he walks along the corridor. At the end of the teaser the title “Queens of the Stone Age – Alive in the catacombs” appears, followed by the word “Coming Soon” (“coming”). According to the description, the concert was filmed by the Parisian production house the Blogotèque. The qtsa invited fans to subscribe to their newsletter to receive further updates.
In a second video, similar but slightly longer, you can see Homme sing in front of a vintage microphone. The title of this clip reads: “Coming Sooner” (“coming soon”).
The Catacombs of Paris have been open to the public since the nineteenth century and remain one of the most fascinating tourist attractions in the city.
