Primal Scream are divorcing bassist Simone Marie Butler

Primal Scream loses a member of their band. Bassist Simone Marie Butler has announced her farewell to the group after thirteen years. The announcement came just over a month after the incident at the Roundhouse in London last December, when during a Primal Scream concert organized to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of “XTRMNTR” it turned into a political and cultural case after the controversy sparked by the visuals projected on the stage: specifically, a montage of images portraying political figures such as the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the President of the United States Donald Trump, whose eyes were replaced by a symbol obtained by intertwining the Star of David and the swastika.

It is not known whether or not there is a connection between last month’s accident and the bassist’s farewell. Simone Marie Butler, who had played in the band since 2012, wrote in a post shared on social media:

I want to thank everyone I’ve had the pleasure of playing with over the last 13 years with Primal Scream. It was truly an incredible trip with truly wonderful people.

Then he added:

From now on I won’t play with the band anymore and I will miss it, but I really wish them all the best for the future. I’m incredibly grateful to have been a part of this band for so long, to have traveled all over the world, to have met amazing people and amazing fans and to play the music I love and to have learned so much from the guys as musicians and performers.

Finally, he commented:

Primal Scream’s music meant a lot to me, even before I played those iconic bass lines, and when I got that call to audition, it was like a moment of God, so I’d like to thank Bobby and Andrew for giving me a chance all those years ago. I love you and, even if I won’t be on stage, I will always be part of the scream family.
