PJ Harvey, new album coming soon: the songs that inspired her

For PJ Harvey, 2026 opens with a series of new features coming soonwhich the musician herself decided to share with the public through social media. The musician has in fact relied on her social channels an update from the beginning of the yearalso publishing a playlist of songs that in 2025 he made it known that he found it “stimulating and capable of giving strength”, which they inspired and guided her in writing songs and poems.

“2025 marked the end of the ‘I inside the old year dying’ tour of Australia and Japan last March,” wrote Pj Harvey: “The two-year tour was a wonderful experience to be a part of, and I deeply loved being able to bring music to life within a shared experience.” Informing the public to be working on a new album and a new bookthe artist added:

“Since then I have started writing songs for my next album and poems for my next book: a process that continues to surprise and challenge me, but to which I know I am deeply connected and love.”

Before wishing for a “happy and peaceful year”, PJ Harvey left fans a message playlist of songs which ranging from techno to folk includes songs by – among others – Tim Hecker, Robbie Basho, Clarissa Connelly and Laura Cannell.

The latest album of the 56-year-old British musician, who last year also participated in the “Los Angeles Rising” charity collection together with Nick Cave, Devo, Gary Numan, Primal Scream and many others to support the victims of the fires, released her last studio album in 2023. The album, entitled “I inside the old year dying” (here is our review), arrived seven years after the previous “The hope six demolition project”, after which Polly Jean Harvey decided to take a break record company to dedicate himself to other projectsso much so that there were even rumors of one of his own possible retirement from music. In addition to having worked on several soundtracks, the artist has written a novel in versereleased in 2022 and titled “Orlam” which laid the foundation for “I inside the old year dying”.
