Pink Floyd: ten minutes of unreleased live footage from 1977 online
A group of fans who restore and archive bootleg materialbaptized Pink Floyd Research Grouphe posted on his YouTube channel ten minutes of previously unseen live footage by Pink Floyd. The video shared includes footage taken during a North American leg of the 1977 North American tour“In the flesh”.
In the videos we see the historic British band playing three of its classics, “Wish you were here”, “Shine on you crazy diamonds” and Money” during the concert that took place at Anaheim Stadium in Anaheim, California, on May 7, 1977.
The video opens with a screen that says: “Everything you are about to see contains all the available material present on the original reels. 8mm and Super 8 are limited formats, with only a few minutes per reel/cartridge, and most people used those few minutes to capture their favorite or most interesting moments. We didn’t cut anything.” In the caption, however, the Pink Floyd Research Group claims:
“This footage is absolutely incredible, and no one can deny that. Not only is it the first truly great quality footage documenting the performance of ‘Wish you were here’ in 1977, but it also captures stunning images of Part 6; stunning shots of all six members on stage (including Snowy White and Dick Parry); exceptional shots of David performing the slide solo in Parts 6–9; the transitions between sections; the entire vocal section of Part 7; a great glimpse of the original footage projected onto the screen for parts 6–9 and ‘Money’; Dick Parry’s full sax solo on ‘Money’; some truly stunning close-ups of Gilmour singing and playing ‘Money’. The list goes on.”
