Pink Floyd: 22 unpublished for the 50th anniversary of “Wish You Were here”
Pink Floyd celebrate the fifty years of “Wish You Were here” (here the Rockol special), one of their most loved and iconic albums, with a mega-cofanetto containing rarity, alternative versions of the unpublished songs and demos. The band announced it today, on the fiftieth anniversary of the release of the album, arrived on the shelves of the music stores on September 12, 1975. The re -edition of “Wish You Were here” for the fifty year will be released on December 12th for Sony Music (can already be pre -ordered on the official website) and – reads the press release – “it will allow fans, for the first time, to immerse themselves more deeply at a crucial moment in the history of Pink Floyd”.
Among the other various rarities included in the box they appear “The Machine Song (Roger’s Demo)”, The first home demo that Roger Waters originally presented to the band, a Unpublished instrumental mix of “Wish You Were here” which highlights David Gilmour’s Pedal Steel Guitar and, for the first time, A complete version of “Shine on you Crazy Diamond (PTS. 1-9)” which combines the two parts of the song in a new stereo mix made by James Guthrie.
“Wish You Were here 50”, as the box has been renamed, will be published in various formats: 3LP, 2CD, Blu-Ray, Digital and Deluxe box. The digital edition will include the original album of 1975 with a new mix in Dolby Atmos created by James Guthrie, collaborator of Pink Floyd since 1979 with “The Wall”. It also includes 25 bonus songs consisting of 9 study rarities and 16 live recordings made by the famous Bootlegger Mike Millard at the Pink Floyd concert at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on April 26, 1975 (here officially published for the first time). Live audio was carefully restored and remastered by Steven Wilson.
Edition Blu-ray It also allows fans to see 3 of the videos projected in the 1975 tour concerts, as well as a short film by Storm Thorgerson. The 3LP and 2CD formats include the original album and the nine traces of study bonuses. The Deluxe box contains all the material on 2CD, 3LP (exclusive transparent vinyl) and Blu-ray, as well as a quarter LP in transparent vinyl, “Live at Wembley 1974”, a replica of the Japanese single 7 “” Have a Cigar ” /” Welcome to the machine “, a cardboard book with unpublished photographs, a comic book with the program of the tour Poster of the Knebworth concert.
A first registration is available today unpublished demo of “Welcome to the machine”, Originally entitled “The Machine Song”. Shorter than the epic definitive version, “The Machine Song (Demo #2, Revisited)” offers fans a preview of what awaits them in “Wish You Were here 50”:
