Piero Piccioni, the author of Alberto Sordi’s soundtracks
Pianist, conductor, keyboard player, Peter Pigeonswho passed away on July 23, 2004 at the age of 82, is undoubtedly one of the most important Italian musicians of the twentieth century and owes this appreciation in particular to his work as a composer of soundtracks. There are over three hundred films for which Piccioni wrote the soundtrack: among these “Il caso Mattei” and “Salvatore Giuliano” by Francis Rose and “Overwhelmed by an unusual destiny in the blue sea of August” by Lina Wertmüller. But the most fruitful and longest lasting partnership of Peter Pigeons it’s the one with Alberto Sordifor which he has composed numerous soundtracks: among these we have chosen some that we propose to you below.
