Pezza dolls, the rock band All Girls

Pezza dolls are one of the most interesting realities of the Italian rock scene. Born in Milan, they represented an anomaly in our music scene from the beginning, proposing themselves as an all -female band capable of bringing energy, anger and irony on stage, very tight punk and texts that can deal with important issues such as feminist instances, gender equals, sexism and violence. With a new formation and a more mainstream approach than the riotous debuts, in 2025 they came out with “Wanted”, a disc inspired and strongly desired that represents a sort of definitive synthesis of the doll-praise-praise And that even in the live dimension it finds its perfect expression, as evidenced by the long tour that is still seeing her busy around the peninsula.

What did it mean to be an all -female band in the Italian panorama of the early 2000s?
Premising that in the original formation there was only Morgana, our history then developed in a particular way. Certainly at that time playing in a female band meant freedom, demonstrating that we could have the same space, the same strength and the same right to express ourselves, without having to adapt to clichés or stereotypes. They were fantastic years and many bands of the genre moved in Italy: Punkreas, Peter Punk, pornorivist. There were many realities to play, the alternative musical fabric was very fertile. And above all there was so much audience that came to the concerts of alternative and independent bands.

In your texts there are social commitment but also intimism, the micro of personal existences and the macro of the great causes. How are your songs, lyrics, music born?
Sometimes from what we live on our skin, other times from what we see around us and makes us angry or excited. You can start from a sentence, an image, a guitar riff. Sometimes the singer writes them, sometimes we create them together in the rehearsal room, and each of us puts his experience and sensitivity to us. The balance between intimate and social comes naturally, because we are people who live everyday life but also the external world, and the two dimensions intertwine.

Live is your natural dimension, as knows who has seen you in concert. What do you try to transmit when you go on stage?
On stage we try to transmit truth and energy, it is absolutely the place we prefer in the world. We are not interested in being perfect, we are interested in being authentic. The connection with our Tribe is born from there, from the fact that what they see is what we really are. Each concert is a collective rite, a time when we can scream and get rid of it together. We want those who follow us to come home with the feeling of having lived something unique and cathartic.

Over the years you have had breaks and restarts, a non -linear artistic path.
The breaks allowed us to grow, understand who we were and who we wanted to be. We do not deny anything about our past, but today we feel we have a clearer and more mature vision. Anger and subversion are still there, they are part of our DNA, but now we know how to channel them into a wider language, which can speak to more people without losing intensity. It is a balance that fully represents us.

The Italian music scene today does not seem very open to rock.
Yes, it’s not really easy to rock in Italy. Let’s say that perhaps today it is not the dominant soundtrack, but it remains a vital force. Generation Z listens to different genres, it is true, but we realize that when they see us live, even the youngest lights up. We really hope they can still return to the rankings, both rock and beautiful distorted guitars

How much does it matter for you to bring messages of commitment and awareness?
It matters a lot. We do not write thinking of making sermons, but we believe that music has enormous power, it can shake, make you think, give strength to those who feel alone. For this we try to deal with important issues such as violence against women, equal opportunities, the freedom to be different. If even just a person after listening to one of our songs he feels less alone or more aware, for us it is already a victory.
