Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order): “It’s for you, Ian Curtis”
Peter Hook has dedicated Joy Division’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame to Ian Curtis, and has confirmed he will attend the induction ceremony.
Joy Division and New Order will enter the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame jointly, as one group; they had already been nominated in 2023 and 2025. The ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on November 14th.
Others inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame are Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, Wu-Tang Clan.
Hook – who played bass in Joy Division until the band became New Order, after Ian Curtis took his own life in 1980, and then split from the group in 2007 – said:
«I am incredibly happy that we have finally been welcomed into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. I’ve been waiting for this for years. I would like to dedicate this achievement to Ian Curtis and all our fans of both bands. Without you, we would be nothing. Thank you with all my heart. I’ll see you that evening.”
It is not yet known whether the current members of New Order will also be present.
