Paul McCartney releases “Man On the Run” soundtrack
Along with the docu-film on Paul McCartney’s solo career in the 1970s, “Man on the Run – Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack”, a 12-song soundtrack, will also arrive on February 27. It will also feature previously unreleased tracks and rarities: “Arrow Through Me (Rough Mix)’,” a previously unreleased mix of the 1979 album sessions for “Back to the Egg,” and “Live And Let Die (Rockshow),” exclusively on Amazon Music, ahead of release, and a third previously unreleased track, “Gotta Sing Gotta Dance,” originally featured on The James Paul McCartney TV Special (1973).
“Man on the run” is the title of the documentary, which will be available on Prime Video and will address the post-Beatles period: (“I felt very depressed, but I was lucky, because I had Linda next to me”), The birth and rise of Wings, the band to which Macca also recently dedicated the book “Wings – A band on the run”.
“This soundtrack is a snapshot of that journey told through his music. Each of these songs is the result of a creative impulse of who Paul was in that moment. It was through song that Paul spoke, not only to the world, but to himself. We are lucky enough to be able to hear it all,” said director Morgan Neville.
“Man on the Run – Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack” will be released in various formats: a limited edition “New York Taxi Yellow” colored vinyl by Jack White’s Third Man Pressing plant, a 180g black vinyl, a CD and digitally. Each vinyl edition will also be accompanied by a Man on the Run poster. The graphics were creatively directed by Paul McCartney and Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell of Hipgnosis.
