Paul McCartney has announced the “definitive collection” of the Wings

Paul McCartney announced the release of a “definitive collection” of the Wings, the band he founded in 1971 after his farewell to the Beatles, composed together with his wife Linda, the drummer Denny Seiwell and the guitarist Denny Laine. The box is simply titled “Wings” and will be available starting next November 7th. Supervised by McCartney himself, the collection will be published in various formats, including a limited edition in three colored vinyls, described as “a real capsule of the time containing a multitude of images and music for the super fans of the band”. But the box will also be released in single CD format and single vinyl.

All physical formats are accompanied by a booklet that includes an introduction by Paul. The 3LP and 2CD editions include a 32 -page booklet with photographs, paintings, curiosities and information on the band. The graphic aspect of “Wings” was supervised by Macca together with Aubrey “Po” Powell of Hipgnosis, the iconic design studio that worked with Paul for seven Wings albums, including “Band on the Run”, “Venus and Mars”, “Wings Over America” ​​and “Wings Greatest”. The booklet includes detailed notes, album for album, the additional editorial of Pete Paphides and presents the original artwork of Humphrey Ocean who worked with the Wings on some of the artworks of “Wings at the speed of sound” before being invited by Paul and Linda on tour in 1976 as artist in the residence, during which he made portraits of the band behind the scenes of the concerts.
