Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, their first duet is out
As anticipated in recent days, today – May 8 – Paul McCartney’s new single featuring him was released duet vocally for the first time with former bandmate in the Beatles Ringo Starr. The song, entitled “Home to us” and which also counts on the participation of Chrissie Hynde and Sharleen Spiteri on backing vocalsarrives as the second track from McCartney’s upcoming album, “The boys of Dungeon Lane”, out next May 29th.
As already reported, since in his new album Paul plays most of the instruments“Home to us” is the only track on “The boys of Dungeon Lane” to include a guest drummer, and was originally built around a drum part that McCartney and producer Andrew Watt had asked Starr to record for the album. Ringo had initially planned to sing only one or two lines, but Paul then asked him to participate in a full-fledged duet.
Speaking of the newly released single, Paul McCartney said: “In writing the song I talk about our origins. As with many people, you start from nothing and build yourself. Ringo came from Dingle, a not so easy neighborhood. He told me that when he came home from work, he often got robbed. It was a crazy life, but it was home for us.”
