Paolo Benvegnù: two unreleased songs out
The voice of Paolo Benvegnù returns to resonate, in some way, almost a year after the premature death of the Milanese singer-songwriter, who passed away at the age of just 59 on 31 December 2024 due to a heart attack. Two unreleased songs from the musician’s archives will be released on Friday 5 December. These are two Christmas themed songs. One is titled “Merry Christmas for you too”, the other “An infinite Christmas”. Both were recorded by Benvegnù together with the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano, but in “An Infinite Christmas” the singer-songwriter also duets with his daughter Anna.
“The project of these two songs was born from a musical workshop that Paolo, as a project of I Benvegnù, did in the Bruno Ciari primary school in San Sisto (PG) where his daughter studies”, explains Luca Roccia Baldini, musician and producer, vice-president and founder of Officine della Cultura, who decided to complete the work of the songs, together with Antoniano. “With the children he created the text and set the music to then perform chorally in the final Christmas recital. It was a beautiful experience of creativity and sharing. Paolo really wanted to have these songs landed at the Antoniano and thanks to Bernardo Mattioni, Mamo Giovenco and Officine della Cultura, we succeeded. And with immense happiness we managed to have his daughter Anna sing one of them. The fact that the first song with Paolo’s voice is a Christmas piece for children and sung and done with the children is an exceptional thing. “Merry Christmas for you too” was also played by part of the Multiethnic Orchestra of Arezzo, in addition to I Benvegnù, and brings the miracle to fruition.
