Music appreciation is now measured only in numbers. It’s our fault, the majors’ fault, the entire system’s fault. Once upon a time you had to build a path. Now, label scouts already have the next ten generations of artists ready based only on their social media numbers. As a result, artists go where they can be helped to make numbers.
