Out of court settlement between the ex-Jane’s Addiction

The legal part between the members of Jane’s Addiction and frontman Perry Farrell has also ended, after the dispute on stage in September 2024 which had led to the end of the band. According to reports PeopleDave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins had accused Farrell of assault, bodily injury, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract, alleging that the band had lost more than $10 million due to the cancellation of the tour and the suspension of all group activities. But the musicians reached a settlement with Farrell, putting an end to the lawsuit: The Los Angeles County Superior Court officially dismissed the lawsuit – filed in July – on December 22nd.

The closure of the judicial dispute comes after the musicians’ public reconciliation, announced last week. Perry Farrell had decided to apologizewhile the remaining members said they had “come together one last time to resolve our differences.” To share a formal apology for what happened, Farrell decided to publish a message on his Instagram account, which reads: “I address Boston and the rest of the world. I would like to address what happened on stage last year. I have reflected on it and I know I did not behave as I should have. I apologize to our audience and my bandmates for losing my temper and interrupting the show. Jane’s Addiction have been at the center of my life for decades. The band, the songs, the audience and the impact we have had on music and culture mean more to me than I could ever put into writing. My goal has always been to give our audience the best show possible, something real, honest and positive. In Boston we fell short and I am deeply sorry to everyone involved. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued love and support.”

A message had therefore also arrived from Jane’s Addiction’s official channels: “We would like to clarify the events related to the cancellation of the tour after the Boston show in September 2024. After that concert, without informing Perry, we unilaterally decided that it was best not to continue the tour and we made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health, which we regret. Today we are here to announce that we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s Addiction remains the work that the four of us created together. We now look to the future as we embark on separate musical and creative paths. Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts. We are proud of the music we have created together.
