“Other than Elvis and Keith Richards, Lemmy is the king of rock'n'roll”
“Before him I had never met what I would call a true rock 'n' roll hero before. Screw Elvis and Keith Richards, Lemmy is the king of rock 'n' roll. A living, breathing, drinking, snorting fucking legend. No one else comes close”: with these words Dave Grohl presented his contribution to the new book on Lemmy Kilmister.
The Foo Fighters frontman is in fact one of the twenty-five of the biggest names in rock and metal who will tell their stories about the late leader of Motörhead, who passed away in 2015, in a new comic volume, entitled “No Remorse: The Illustrated True Stories Of Lemmy Kilmister And Motörhead” and coming out next summer from Z2 Comics.
The new 176-page illustrated book will collect testimonies and anecdotes from – among others – Dave Grohl, Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Lars Ulrich of Metallica, Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction, Kim McAuliffe of Girlschool, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister and former bandmates of Lemmy's bands, including Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell. Other stories will be told by figures such as famed fantasy author Neil Gaiman, Lita Ford, WWE wrestlers Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Corey Graves. Also contributing will be Slim Jim Phantom, who performed with Lemmy in the rockabilly supergroup The Head Cat, and director Penelope Spheeris – director of the documentary “The Decline Of Western Civilization Part 2”, starring Lemmy.
The stories will be illustrated by comics artists including Dave Chisholm, Bob Fingerman, Jay Jay Jackson and Jim Mahfood, as well as Ed Repka, known for his Megadeth and Death album covers. The volume will also include the preface written by Dave Grohl, while the afterword is entrusted to Osbourne.
“No Remorse: The Illustrated True Stories Of Lemmy Kilmister And Motörhead”, available for pre-order on the Z2 Comics website which informs that “shipping of copies of the volume is expected to begin in July 2024”, will be available in several editions, including one that will offer the volume together with the double vinyl of Motörhead's 1984 collection, “No Remorse”.
The president of Z2 and collaborator in the creation of the book, Josh Bernstein, in a note taken from Loudersound commented: “Anyone who has ever crossed paths with Lemmy Kilmister has had a truly unique experience, carrying with them stories to share for a lifetime . The telling of those stories by friends and family, along with some of the greatest illustrators of underground art, brings Lemmy and Motörhead to life on every page.”
